Introducing the Artist
I am Noah Salim, a wood carver from Tanzania. I present to you my culture and also the daily activities of my tribe: MAKONDE. We are carving from the different woods including the black ebony wood, mahogany wood, rose wood etc. We can make anything from the wood. We await to receive your order . You can also send us the picture and we can make it into wood. We do everything by hand and make wonderful statues.
Makonde Tribe
The Makonde are an ethnic group of Africa, originally from Mozambique. They now live divided between Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya. Those in Tanzania and Kenya are descended from grandparents who fled war and persecution in Mozambique.
They Speak Makonde- a Bantu language. The Makonde people are renowned internationally for the art and wood carvings portraying their rich history.
